Maurice was raised on a family farm in southeastern Ohio. He attended Ohio University, Athens, where he earned a BS in Ed. He graduated from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary with a MDiv degree.
Maurice and his wife, Debbie, have been married 42 years and have three children; Christy – a Presbyterian pastor, Audra, and Nicholas. Audra has two teenage sons.
Maurice served three Presbyterian churches in his 42-year ministry. He first served as Pastor of the Van Buren Presbyterian Church, Van Buren, Ohio, for 8 years. He then served the First Presbyterian Church, Caldwell, Ohio, for 8½ years. In 1993 he began serving the First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro, Ohio, where he served 25 years until his retirement in 2018.
Maurice has served the denomination in several ways: serving on several Presbytery committees, a Synod of the Covenant committee (served as chair for three years), and was a delegate to the 2008 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
Maurice is now serving the Madeira-Silverwood congregation on a part-time basis as Visitation Pastor.
