Roy Swanson

Director of Music

Roy Swanson is an accomplished composer, arranger, and professional musician.  As Director of Music at Madeira Silverwood Presbyterian Church, he conducts the sanctuary choir, bell choir, men’s and women’s ensembles, and he leads the praise team.  He plays the organ and piano, and he provides special musical offerings on the trumpet with original orchestral accompaniments.  He is a founding member of Rock It 88, a classic rock band, playing the keyboards and trumpet.  He also provides private music instruction on piano, all brass instruments, and theory/composition and songwriting.

A former school principal, Mr. Swanson was a professional educator for 30 years, teaching music to all ages and leading schools and organizations to new heights of excellence.

Mr. Swanson holds the Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Dayton; Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan; and the Master of Education degree from the University of Cincinnati.

Mr. Swanson is married to Elizabeth, and they have two children.  Brian is a college student and Emily is in high school.  The family enjoys a vacation each year, and family dinners together.
