Roughly 4.1 million people will retire every year for at least the next three years. For the past couple of years, Pastor Smith has been dreaming about how to help these people find meaning in their next steps in life.
This coming wave represents a vast opportunity for churches. Huge numbers of people will be asking questions about meaning and purpose. This wave of retirees has immense skill and knowledge. We can help them find ways to enjoy their retirement and use their skills to be instruments of God's blessing to the community.
Pastor Smith is asking for your help in developing some ideas on how we can best serve this community. In partnership with our Outreach ministries team, he's convening a brainstorming group on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am on January 21, 28, and February 4. If you are recently retired, we'd love to hear your stories about what has helped and what kind of things would help, and we would love to pray about how we, as a church, could create opportunities to help people at this stage of life.
