Shoebox Gifts Help Churches Share the Gospel Across the World

Believe it not, It's already time for the 2024 Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child campaign. This is a simple way you can bless children around the world in the name of Jesus.

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Samaritan's Purse ships these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

Maderia-Silverwood participates in Operation Christmas Child through our Family Ministry program. In 2021, we collected 60 boxes. In 2022 and 2023, we collected around 80 for each year. Help us make this year our biggest yet and bless even more children!

You can help this year's campaign in any of the following ways:

Donate empty shoeboxes (now through October 27)

Bring your empty shoeboxes to the Madeira-Silverwood church office anytime.

Wrap shoeboxes (now through October 27)

We need to wrap 75 shoeboxes before November 3 to be ready for Operation Christmas Child. We are wrapping on weekday mornings either in the Chapel or on the ping pong table in the Youth room. We have the paper, scissors, and tape – you have the time and talent! Contact the church office to schedule a time to come in and help with wrapping boxes.

Fill a shoebox with gifts (November 3 – November 24)

Beginning November 3, we will have wrapped shoeboxes available for pickup in the Sanctuary or from the church office. Drop by anytime and pick up a box for filling. Visit the Operation Christmas Child website to learn more about what kind of gifts to pack in your shoebox. Return the shoebox to Madeira-Silverwood no later than Sunday, November 24!

Make a donation to help with postage to send shoebox gifts (now through November 24)

Click here to donate toward postage. Be sure to indicate in the memo field that this contribution is going for the 2024 Operation Christmas Child campaign.

Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.” - Matthew 19:13-15
