One Great Hour of Sharing Supports Missions in 100 Countries.

Millions of people worldwide lack access to sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity. The three programs supported by One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS)—Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People—all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is the emergency and refugee program of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). It enables our congregations and mission partners to witness to the healing love of Christ by caring for communities adversely affected by crises and catastrophic events.

• In 2023, PDA granted $6.1 million in 27 U.S. states and 46 countries.

• 131 National Response Team members were deployed to 46 presbyteries.

• 1,837 work team volunteers served in AR, CA, FL, KY, LA, MS, NC, TX, and Puerto Rico, donating 127,755 hours, totaling more than $4 million in volunteer time.

Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) provides resources to Presbyterians and mission partners working on long-term sustainable development, community empowerment, and policy change. In 2023, PHP gave 84 grants totaling $1.1 million, impacting 19 countries and territories, including the U.S. and Puerto Rico. PHP also partnered with 12 Presbytery Hunger Action Advocates, 80 Hunger Action Congregations, and 304 Earth Care Congregations across the U.S.

The Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People (SDOP) works with low-income communities to overcome oppression and injustice. In 2023, National SDOP partnered with projects focused on advocacy, youth-led initiatives, skills development, farming, refugee issues, and capacity building. Through your gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing, projects in economically poor communities around the world have had an opportunity to develop solutions to their challenges

Received during the season of Lent (March 5 – April 20), each gift to One Great Hour of Sharing helps improve people's lives in these challenging situations. The Offering allows us to share God's love with our needy neighbors. OGHS is the most evident way Presbyterians unite yearly to work for a better world. Please prayerfully consider giving to this offering.

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear;" - Isaiah 58: 6-8a
