Lent is a time of reflection and a time of giving. The Mission Committee invites you to participate in the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. Each gift to One Great Hour of Sharing supports efforts to relieve hunger through the Presbyterian Hunger Program, promote development through the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People, and assist in areas of disaster through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Through this simple offering, you are able to help people in crisis all over the world!
This offering is a great way for families to teach their children about compassion and Jesus' call for us to care for others. Families can participate by picking up a special One Great Hour of Sharing fish bank at church on Sunday. Place the bank in a prominent place at home (perhaps on the table at meal times). Each day, families can put spare change or bills in the bank as a daily Lenten discipline. Your children will be excited to hear the banks fill up. And they'll be very excited to know that what they give will help people all over the world.
We will collect fish banks and other donations on Palm Sunday, March 24. Last year, we collected $755.38. Let's see if we can collect even more this year. If you would like to give online, be sure to indicate "One Great Hour of Sharing" in the memo field.
