It's time once again for our end-of-Summer clothing drive!
Summer is over, and it's time to clear out those old clothes. Don't let them go to waste! Our mission partner Master Provisions collects gently used clothing and distributes them to places in need all over the globe. Your old clothing could be a blessing to children in Honduras, villagers in Ghana, communities in Togo, or many other places around the world. Last year, we collected 1 ton of clothing! Let's see how we can do this year!
Master Provisions can use good quality summer-weight clothing, t-shirts, polos, dress shirts, sportswear, slacks, jeans, hats, light-weight jackets and children’s clothing. They can also take bed sheets and towels.
Bring your clothing to Madeira-Silverwood Presbyterian between August 29 and September 16. During those dates, we will have a Master Provisions trailer set up in our parking lot. All you have to do is leave your donated items in the trailer and we'll take care of the rest! You get a cleaned out closet and the satisfaction of knowing that you've been a blessing to people around the world.
Can you help us get more people involved? Here are a few ideas:
Be a collection hub for your neighborhood. Let your neighbors know via Facebook or via a printed invitation that your home will be a collection hub. All they have to do is drop off clothes on your doorstep and you can deliver them to MSPC. This small step lets your neighbors know your home is a beacon of God's love.
Involve your networks and groups. Are you in a club, social organization, or small informal group? Invite them to be involved. Whether it's your golf foursome, a gaming group, or a civic organization, you can approach your networks and be a point person for collecting clothes from them. This is a simple way to invite people to take a small step of faith.
Talk to your workplace. Perhaps your boss will allow you to invite your team or office to participate in the clothing drive. Why not ask and see? Do you own your own business? This could be a perfect project to help your company give back.
“John [the Baptist] said, 'Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.'” Luke 3:11
