Cincinnati's First Crafts of Cairo Sale Coming to MSPC

Cincinnati's first Crafts of Cairo sale will occur at MSPC on December 8th. Are you searching for the perfect gift for a loved one? Join HANDS at their holiday craft sale, where you can shop for products handcrafted by women artisans from the Association for the Protection of the Environment (APE) in Cairo, Egypt.

APE is a program dedicated to preserving the environment while improving the lives of those who live and work amidst city waste. In poor areas of Cairo, entire families live on trash dumps, earning their livelihood by collecting and sorting the city's garbage at their homes. These areas are often called "Garbage Cities". APE offers girls and women from garbage collectors' families an opportunity to receive education and training and engage in income-generating activities. The girls attend literacy classes to continue their education later, learn marketable skills (weaving, quilting, paper recycling, etc.), and create beautiful products from scraps of clean fabric and paper. Crafts of Cairo invites you to explore handicrafts made from clean, recycled materials. The artisans use innovative materials such as recycled fabric scraps, paper, soda can tabs, and Nespresso coffee pods to craft stunning items.

From handmade purses and tote bags to stuffed animals and jewelry, the Cairo Crafts Sale has something for everyone. Proceeds from the sale will support APE and increase opportunities for young women in the community.
